Tagged by my daughter

First I have lived in four different countries. U.S., Canada, Brazil and Texas.:) In each place I found many things I really liked and enjoyed; especially the people. I would happily go back to any of those places again - if I could take my family with me.

I am a retired school teacher having taught for fourteen years. All of those years were spent in a first or second grade classroom. In addition to my B.S. degree, I completed certification as a Montessori teacher and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.

While in High School I was on the debate team, the basketball team, sang in the school choir, participated in many dramatic competitions and plays. A highlight for me was playing the part of Aunt Eller in "Oklahoma".

I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brazil. During that time I served as Primary President for the Brazilian Mission.

I enjoy sketching and water color painting, reading, listening to good music, eating cookies,playing card games and cooking.

The joys of my life are my husband, my children and grandchildren!

From Detroit to Reno

Terry called and said that he and Roxy have decided to get married. So we pack our bags that were still warm from the Michigan trip and drove down to Reno. We arrived early on Friday and so Marvin and I went to see the "Aphilione" Cirques (I'm sure that is not spelled right). It was a mixture of totally amazing acrobatic routines and a comedian that I would have liked to have brought him back to Logan with us.
Saturday morning we had breakfast with Terry, Roxy, Roxy's sister Diane and Diane's husband. Then we all went up to Virginia City. We learned a lot about the mining history of that area and rode the old narrow gauge train returning in time to get ready for the wedding. They were married in a sweet little chapel in the Sands. Since Roxy did not have her father to give her away she wanted Marvin to walk Terry down the aisle and give him away. He did!

Detroit, Michigan new grandchildren from Russia

We decided to take a very quick trip to Detroit to see our new grandchildren. My daughter and son-in-law have adopted two children to add to their wonderful family of three children. That means they have a one year old, a two year old, a three year old, a four year old and a seven year old. That adds up to very very busy! The three days we spent with them were wonderful and have packed our bags with wonderful memories. I'm so impressed with the thoughtful, loving, kind way that Sarah and Jeff have approached this challenging adventure. Can you imagine taking that many small children to a community apple fair and then out to a restaurant for pizza? I was sure we would have a hard time but not so. They were wonderful and we all had a great time.

Breakfast in the canyon

Is there anything more wonderful than starting your day in Logan Canyon? The air is so fresh and clean, beauty everywhere and the soothing sound of the river rushing by. Then when you add friends and family, it becomes perfect. Saturday morning we had breakfast with Bryce and Laurie's family and B.J. and Amber who were here from St. George. Does anyone know why food tastes twice as good in the canyon?
I'm thinking we need to do this more often. It takes such a few minutes to throw a few things in the car and in just fifteen minutes you are at the picnic sites. It's a perfect place to meditate, read and/or just relax.

Glorious Week

Major news this week!!! Dr. Adams looked at the xray and pronounced my wrist completely healed!!! It has been four years and nine months since I broke it. Thanks for your prayers.
Wednesday I spent with Mom. She continues to need our prayers, cards and letters. She cannot feed or dress herself. Occasionally she speaks a word or two we can understand, but most of the time her efforts at speech are unintelligible. She is cognizant. She still very much enjoys little birds and flowers. We put up a bird feeder outside her window at the Nursing home. Remember her birthday is Sept. 1st. She will be 93. Please remember Carol and I in your prayers as well. This is one of the most difficult challenges we've ever had.
Thursday we took Max and Allene up Logan Canyon for breakfast. It is soo beautiful. Delicious air, soothing river sounds and of course the food tastes four times as good up there. Every time we go we wonder why we haven't spent more time up there.
Friday we spent with Bryce and Laurie. It is great having them close. We went to Idaho Falls and did a session at the temple. It was a very special experience for me. We also visited the Idaho Potato Museum and stopped in Inkom to visit Sue and Brad.
Saturday Steven and Marianne and family came up and spent the afternoon with us. Jim was here with us as well. The kids love having him here. Then the day was made perfect because Sarah called and we all got to talk to her.
